Accelerating Sanitation and Water for All Programme II announces vacancy for the positions of WASH Coordinators and WASH Consultant for WASH in Institution including Total Sanitation Promotion (National Consultant).

WASH Coordinators

Qualification and Competencies

1. Education

o Bachelor degree in one of the disciplines relevant to the following areas: Public Health, Civil Engineering, Sanitation Engineering, Sociology, Rural Development
o Additional training in Health Education or Communication for Development (Programme Communication) focusing to WASH, an asset.

2. Work Experience
o Three years of progressively responsible professional work experience in the UN or other international development organization, national government, NGOs or private sector. Field work experience specifically from WASH in Province No. 2.

 

3. Technical/Social Knowledge

o Good technical knowledge on the theories, principles and methods in the communication for behavior change,
o WASH in schools and health care facilities,
o water supply projects management, appropriate water supply and quality technology, stainability of water supply and sanitation,
o WASH planning and monitoring and evaluation.
o Community based sanitation hygiene education or latrine construction and waste management.
o General knowledge of methodology of programme/project management, programmatic goals, visions, positions, policies and strategies for sectoral programmes
o Knowledge of human rights and gender/disability issues, specifically relating to children and women, and the current UNICEF/ Govt’s position and approaches.
o UNICEF financial, supply and administrative rules and regulations.

4. Language Proficiency / Computer skill

o Proficient in speaking/writing in English and Nepali and Maithili/Bhojpuri is an asset.
o Good computer skill in Excel, Words, PowerPoint,

5. Other

o Has two-wheeler driving license and holding own motorbike is an asset,
o Candidates from working district will be preferred.

WASH Consultant for WASH in Institution including Total Sanitation Promotion (National Consultant)

Qualification and Competencies

1. Education

Advanced University Degree preferably with Social, Education and/or Public Health from recognized university

2. Work Experience

Minimum five years of professional work at national level experience on WASH in Institutions, and total sanitation programming at upstream.

3. Technical/Social Knowledge and Skills

o Planning, programming, implementation of total sanitation concept;
o Working with government, UN or other (inter)national development organization;
o Familiar with drafting standard, guidelines and training manuals.
o Good communication, facilitation, negotiation and advocacy skills to influence government officials (joint secretaries, under-secretaries) in Health and WASH sector.
o Communication, working with people, drive for result, formulating strategy/concept, advocacy, negotiation skills.

4. Language Proficiency / Computer skill

o Proficient in speaking/writing in English and Nepali.
o Good computer skill in Words, PowerPoint, Excel
