The Country Coordinator will act as the Nepal focal person. Mainly manage and proceed the project “Disaster Risk Reduction and Strengthening Through Community Resilience and Multi-stakeholder Engagement Project”. Through establishing a multisector platform for disaster response in Nepal, support resilience of disaster-prone communities by improving infrastructure and information dissemination system, as well as optimizing resources. Work together with the multi-stakeholders such as government, private sector, NGOs, schools, academia, media, and expand membership and partnership. Coordinate and supervise implementation of the Project activities in Madhesh Province, Province 1 and Bagmati Province, and have to work closely with Emergency Operation Centers and other like-minded organizations. Will technically assist and contribute in the development of work plan for Madhesh Province, Province 1 and Bagmati Province and ensure its implementation in collaboration with the potential partners/stakeholders including private sector other likeminded agency. Will develop linkages and maintain effective coordination with the project field teams and potential partners/stakeholders in the public and private sectors to soliciting their support for the timely and successful implementation of project interventions

 Job Duties Reception

  • Responsible for supervising both Admin and Program teams. Look after the overall activities of office. Guide and support Admin and Program teams in disbursement of grants to the project beneficiaries in the project districts in accordance with the project document. 
  • Supervise Program Managers and make ensure timely implementation of program’s planned activities, work with Program Managers to develop and regularly update work plans, implementation plans, chase the targets and assist in internal controls and risk management.
  • Collaborate with partner NGOs, Government and Private Sector, identify challenges, obstacles and issues that may adversely impact program implementation, and share solutions.
  • Verify financial and admin related work, which includes cash book check, tax payment check etc.
  • Participate in senior management meetings and contribute through discussions and suggestions and ensure implementation of decisions of the meetings.
  • Produce high quality monthly technical and progress reports highlighting program achievements, especially in relation to performance indicators.
  • Meet all requirements of General Agreement and Project Agreement by SWC, and coordinate with them.
  • Promote partnerships and maintain effective working relationships with the potential stakeholders, organizations, government for complementing and sharing experiences for the mutual benefit.
  • Establish linkages and maintain effective working relationships with potential project partners including federal and provincial government organizations, non-governmental organizations, and private organization.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Specification for Country Coordinator

  • Minimum Requirement
  • Master’s degree in public administration, social science, management, or other related fields.
  • At least 6-7 years’ experience in project management in the field of disaster risk reduction, humanitarian assistance, development, or other relevant experience.
  • Fluency in written and spoken both English and Nepali.

Preferred Requirement

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Disaster Risk Reduction [DRR], Disaster Risk Management [DRM], Emergency Operation Centres.
  • Prior experience of working with DRR/DRM.
  • A background of working with/within the private sector.
  • Experience in working or liaising with I/NGO, UN Agencies, government organizations.
  • Strong supervisory and management skills including direct supervision of admin and program staff.
  • Strong intellectual and leadership skills in disaster and volunteer management background.
  • Excellent team building and interpersonal skills.
  • High standard of time management skills. Being able to prioritize his/her work and ensure that he/she can meet the deadline.
  • Able to produce high quality work under pressure and deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments.
