Job purpose

Focal person for Branding in WaterAid Nepal.
Lead and advise on WaterAid Nepal’s strategic communication activities, channels, products and events.
Support in developing and implementing the country programme funding plan and supporting to mobilize and grant funds from diverse sources with a clear communication strategy and ensure that project implementation and reporting are in compliance with requirements of contracts.

Essential skills 

  • Bachelors (preferred Masters Degree) in Communications, International Development or relevant discipline
  • Substantial number of years of experience in similar role/ functional context, with good network and prior experience leading fundraising or business development unit.
  • IT skills particularly MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PPTs
  • Fluency in spoken and written Nepali language. Good proficiency in spoken and written English, with good interpersonal, negotiating and persuasive skills 
  • In depth knowledge and experience of developing and reviewing funding proposal and track record demonstrating ability to produce high quality and accurate documentation.
  • Excellent writing skills and attention to detail, with ability to prepare high quality and accurate documents.
  • Confident in working with senior level stakeholders both internally and externally using tact and diplomacy
  • Excellent skills in writing, producing excellent programme / project reports for wider audience

Desirable skills

  • Experience of developing proposals and reports based on diverse donor needs
  • Experience of various donors’ rules and regulations 
  • Ability to demonstrate exceptional behavioural qualities such as critical thinking, problem solving, active listening, proactive and service oriented 
  • Experience in report writing 
  • Self-motivated, creative and ability to perform with minimum supervision 
  • Ability to work flexibly, to manage varying competing priorities under your own initiative, meet strict deadlines 
  • Experience of managing and supporting staff or volunteers 
  • Experience of working effectively within a culturally diverse and matrix organisation
