Introduction:

The Samarthya Foundation (SF) is a non-profit, non-political organisation established in 2026 with the mission of contributing to sustainable and inclusive development in Nepal. The organisation was founded through the collective efforts of experienced professionals who have extensive backgrounds in the non-profit, development, humanitarian, and private sectors.

Following its formation, the organisation has secured support from experienced donors Himalayan Trust UK (HTUK) and the Australian Himalayan Foundation (AHF), which has a long history of engagement in Nepal’s Himalayan regions. With this backing, the organisation will benefit from capacity-building support, field experience, and technical guidance from its partners. The initial donor support also connects Samarthya Foundation to an existing network of Himalayan initiatives, reflecting confidence in the organisation’s vision and a shared commitment to sustaining and expanding community-focused work.

As part of its 2026–2031 strategic plan, SF is organising a three-day Training of Trainers (TOT) for its staff on child-centred and inclusive pedagogy to promote child-friendly learning environments in schools.

Objectives of the Training:

The objectives of the training are as below:

• To develop a detailed three-day-long ToT package on child-centred and inclusive pedagogy.
• To develop 3-day teacher training contents for 5 different capacity levels.
• To conduct a three-day-long ToT on child-centred and inclusive pedagogy to SF staff, integrating GEDSI and safeguarding as cross-cutting areas.
• To enhance and incapacitate SF staff to deliver school-level child-centred and inclusive pedagogy training to teachers and stakeholders.

Scope of Work:

The scope of the work is as below:

• Prepare a training package, session plans, materials, self-assessment tools, mentoring and observation forms on child-centred and inclusive pedagogy in collaboration with SF, integrating GEDSI and safeguarding as cross-cutting areas.
• Facilitate three-day training on child-centred and inclusive pedagogy, adopting practical methods to impart strategies teachers can use in the classes as well as alternatives if they have challenges with particular strategies.
• Enhance staff’s capacity on using participatory and inclusive skills, knowledge and methods in delivering child-centred and inclusive pedagogy training.
• Provide a comprehensive training report summarising activities, key achievements, lessons learned and recommendations.
